AIRBUS VS BOEING IN 2023
It is a battle of decades, and there is a new chapter; with the year 2023 already in the past, the 2 giants of the aeronautical market released their annual data, and the numbers are not deceiving; one of the companies stood out in 2023.
Airbus and Boeing: the world of aviation revolves around these two colossi of modern commercial aviation, 2023 was a year of consolidation for the European giant that has been conquering the market in recent years, and this year did not disappoint on the North American side, Boeing has been trying to regain the trust of airlines and passengers after several troubled years due to problems with its 737MAX model.
The year 2023 in numbers
Starting with Airbus, the Toulouse giant delivered 68 A220 Family aircraft, 571 A320 Family aircraft, 32 A330 Family aircraft, and 64 A350 Family aircraft in 2023, totaling 735 commercial aircraft. In the Helicopetros department, 346 units were delivered; in the Military Department, 8 A400M aircraft were delivered, and 2023 ended with 2094 new aircraft orders.
Boeing, on the other hand, delivered 396 aircraft from the 737 family, 1 aircraft from the 747 family, 32 aircraft from the 767 family, 26 aircraft from the 777 family, and 73 aircraft from the 787 family, totaling 528 aircraft delivered, ended the year with 1314 new aircraft orders.
2024 is not going to be an easy year for aviation. The American company began experiencing problems with its 737 MAX 9 model, and the European Airbus is about to feel the consequences of challenges related to Pratt & Whitney engines throughout this year. Several experts say this situation could significantly impact the European summer of 2024. Multiple aircraft from the A320 family will have to undergo forced engine maintenance, resulting in periods of inactivity for some aircraft. This certainly represents a significant challenge for both manufacturers and the aviation industry as a whole.
